The World Sports University and the Judo Union of Asia Academy Collaborate to Upskill Asian Judo Event Organizers in Hong Kong

Hong Kong, April 25th, 2024 - The World Sports University (WSU) and the Judo Union of Asia (JUA) Academy joined forces to host a specialized training program and certification exam for judo event organizers from April 18th to 23rd, 2024 in Hong Kong.

The comprehensive course, which was attended by event organizers and technical personnel from China, South Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, India, the Philippines, Nepal, Hong Kong, Macau, and other Asian countries, focused primarily on IT-based event management. The curriculum provided in-depth training on the use of the JUA's dedicated competition management software, including the high-definition video replay system utilized by the officials.

After two days of theoretical instruction, the participants were given the opportunity to put their newfound knowledge into practice by assisting in the organization of the 2024 Asian Judo Championships, which was held concurrently. Professor Che Kuong Hon, the President of the World Sports University and the Sports Director of the 2024 Asian Judo Championships, personally visited the event to provide the trainees with valuable insights and guidance on the intricacies and importance of effective event management.

"By immersing the participants in the actual organization of the Asian Judo Championships, we aimed to provide them with a comprehensive, hands-on experience," explained Professor Che. "From draw management and athlete check-in to timing, scoring, and video replay system operation, the trainees were able to directly interact with athletes and coaches, gaining a deep understanding of the procedural rigor required for successful judo event organization."

Upon completing the program and passing the certification exam, the participants will be equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to contribute to the efficient and effective management of judo events across Asia. The World Sports University and the JUA Academy plan to continue their collaborative efforts, offering various training programs to further enhance the theoretical and practical expertise of judo athletes, coaches, officials, event organizers, and IT professionals.

"This joint initiative between the WSU and the JUA Academy is a testament to our shared commitment to the continuous development and professionalization of judo in Asia," said Mr. AL-ANZI Obaid, the President of the Judo Union of Asia. "By empowering event organizers with the latest tools and techniques, we are ensuring that judo competitions across the continent are delivered to the highest standards, providing our athletes with the optimal stage to showcase their talents."

The successful completion of the event organization training program and certification exam in Hong Kong marks a significant milestone in the ongoing collaboration between the World Sports University and the Judo Union of Asia. As the Asian judo community looks towards the future, this partnership will continue to play a pivotal role in elevating the sport's operational excellence and fostering the continued growth and success of judo throughout the region.
